Multiple fires reported across West Michigan Sunday, dispatch says

The Evart Area Fire Department and Meceola Dispatch said due to the conditions, it's not safe to burn things.

MORLEY, Mich. — Multiple fires appeared across West Michigan Sunday, according to numerous dispatch services. 

Meceola Consolidated Central Dispatch Authority first reported a grass fire that spanned several acres at 190th and 1 Mile Road around 2:45 p.m.

Meceola Dispatch said fire departments from Big Rapids Twp., the City of Big Rapids, Morley and Mecosta all fought the fire. The Red Cross also came to the scene to assist the departments. 

Meceola Dispatch then reported a second fire around 4:40 p.m. They said the fire was being fought by three departments on Buchanan Road near 90th Avenue in Stanwood. 

As of 5:50 p.m., Meceola Dispatch said both fires were put out completely.

Kent County Dispatch said there were eight fires reported on Sunday and more in Grand Rapids. Ottawa County Dispatch said there were two reported fires on Sunday. 

The Evart Area Fire Department and Meceola Dispatch said due to the conditions, it's not safe to burn things outside.
