HOLLAND, Mich — Making One Small Change for better health. All month we've been focusing on moving 21 minutes a few times a week.
Last week, Valeo Training founder Jessica Leupke encouraged us to get out and take a walk, go on a hike, or even just walk the stairs in your house to get in a little cardio.
This Friday, she is encouraging us to incorporate weight lifting into our 21 minutes of movement.
"Strength training is imperative for keeping our muscles toned, our bones strong, and our bodies functioning well as we age," said Jessica.
"When you lift weights, choose heavy loads and exercises where you'll mimic everyday life movements. In everyday life, you push, pull, use your core, bend at your hips (hinge) and change levels (squat up and down). So, let's train that way! Try 21 minutes of strength training and you may find yourself looking, moving and feeling (even more) awesome – and maybe flexing a little more than normal, too."
