Like many people, Claire Hoop doesn't have perfect vision.
"I have really bad eyesight, so it would be really hard for me without glasses," said the Saint John Vianney fifth-grader.
Clair and her stepsister, Marian Listen, are on a mission.
"We have over 300 pair of glasses," Marian said.
This isn't the first time Claire and Marian have volunteered, it's just the first time they've done this.
"We are collecting glasses to bring to Bangladesh," said Marian.
For the past several weeks, the two Saint John Vianney students have made rounds in and outside of their school to collect as many eyeglasses as possible.
"It's really cool to have students to think this up," said Marian.
Giving back is something this family doesn't take lightly. For instance, it's not the first time these girls have gone out of the country with similar intentions.
"One year we went to Belize for Thanksgiving," said Claire. "We went to this school there and made Thanksgiving dinner for all the students."
It will take the two a total of 24 hours to arrive, but that's over a 36 hour time span.
"We're going to drive to Chicago, then we're going to fly from Chicago to Qatar, then we're flying from Doha, Qatar to Dakha, Bangladesh," said Marian. Then we're going to take a van to the children's home."
With both girls knowing first hand how important eye care is, it was easy for the two to explain why they wanted to collect glasses.
"They don't always have money to buy eye care for their kids, or even themselves," said Marian.
"It's a lot cheaper to just buy lenses," said Claire. "Even if the lenses don't fit they can still use the frames."
"It makes me feel good because I know that God is calling me to do this and I'm doing it for people," said Claire.
The cherry on top is doing it with each other.
"It's more fun doing it together than doing it by yourself," said Claire.
