GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A semi-truck driver was taken to the hospital after a crash in Grand Rapids on Saturday, according to Michigan State Police.
MSP said the crash happened on westbound I-96 near Cascade around 11 a.m.
Troopers said at this point in the investigation, they've determined the semi driver had a medical issue, causing the semi to go off the roadway shoulder and hit several trees.
The driver was taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries, MSP said.
MSP said the road is open, however, traffic backups occurred for a while due to distracted drivers looking at the scene.
