Muskegon Heights shooting leaves man in serious condition

Police determined the shooting happened in the backyard of a home on Howden Street near Manahan.

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — A man is in serious condition after a shooting in Muskegon Heights on Sunday evening, according to the Muskegon Heights Police Department. 

Around 4:40 p.m. Muskegon Central Dispatch received a call about a shooting in the 2600 block of Howden Street. 

Police were told the victim of the shooting left running in an unknown direction. 

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 36-year-old Muskegon Heights man in the front yard of a home on Howden Street with multiple gunshot wounds. 

Police said the man was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. 

Police determined the shooting happened in the backyard of a home on Howden Street near Manahan. 

MHPD was joined at the scene by Roosevelt Park, Norton Shores, Muskegon and Fruitport Township Police Departments. 

Muskegon Heights Detectives and Michigan State Police Sixth District MMCI Detectives were called in for the investigation and collected evidence at the scene.
