MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — Guilty on all counts.
That's the verdict a Muskegon County jury delivered this week to Joseph Plummer in the murder of Rayna Garrett.
According to a probable cause document filed in the case, Plummer fired a shot from a rifle that killed Garrett on April 24, 2022, outside a home on Riordan Street in Muskegon Heights.
Detectives said Plummer fled Michigan to Chicago within a day of her killing. When he returned, he claimed he left his cell phone in Chicago.
Authorities said he lied about his communication with other witnesses, his contact with firearms and his location during and after the killing.
This week, a jury convicted Plummer on all counts, including second-degree murder, lying to police and weapons charges.
Plummer will learn his sentence on July 25.
