Muskegon man fires gun into the air to warn neighbors his house is on fire

The Muskegon Fire Department said the fire happened at a home in the 900 block of Cheboygan.

MUSKEGON, Mich. — A man shot his gun into the air to warn his neighbors of a fire on Thursday morning, according to Jay Paulson, the City of Muskegon Fire Department's Deputy Director.

Paulson said the fire happened at a home in the 900 block of Cheboygan.

Muskegon fire crews came to the scene to assist the Muskegon Township Fire Department, but when they got there, the fire was out. Crews only needed to help with a few hot spots.

Paulson said he was told the owner of the home had fired his gun into the air to warn his neighbors that his house was on fire.
