MUSKEGON, Mich. — A Muskegon man is accused of murder in the deaths of two different men. One of those killings was reportedly caught on camera.
Deondre Kinte Johnson, 34, is charged with murder in the killings of Devonte Moore and Nathaniel Hector.
Nathaniel Hector was killed on July 16, 2023, and according to online records, Johnson was arraigned in this case this week.
13 ON YOUR SIDE requested the probable cause affidavit to learn more about what led up to the violence.
The 60th District Court Administrator said the Muskegon County Prosecutor's Office objects to sharing that affidavit with 13 ON YOUR SIDE.
The court shared the probable cause affidavit for the second killing.
Johnson, who has several aliases including "Joe," was charged with open murder and weapons charges for the shooting death of Devonte Moore on March 10, 2024. Surveillance video captured the shooting on camera, detectives claim.
A probable cause document filed in this case suggests the violence stemmed from a dispute between the suspect's cousin and Moore. Authorities said there were ongoing issues with two apartments within a home on Amity Avenue in Muskegon.
Several witnesses said Moore and some other people assaulted the suspect's cousin days before the shooting. The cousin and Johnson had made a plan to fight Moore "fairly," but that cousin told detectives they scrapped that plan.
During the overnight hours on March 10, 2024, detectives said Moore was in an argument with some people on a front porch when two people approached them.
"What's up bro?" Johnson can be heard saying on surveillance video as he allegedly lifted his right arm and fired a single shot, killing Moore, detectives said in court documents.
Johnson was arraigned in court this week and is expected to appear in court next on April 18.
The judge set his bond at $1,002,000.
Johnson is no stranger to the law.
According to online Michigan Department of Corrections records, Johnson was paroled in June 2023.
He previously entered a plea for assaulting/resisting/obstructing police charges in 2020.
Johnson also was convicted of drug charges in 2017, weapons charges in 2011 and fleeing an officer in 2009.
