MUSKEGON, Mich. — The Muskegon Rescue Mission (MRM) is asking the community for help making its annual Turkey Drop a success.
This year, MRM hopes to collect 900 frozen turkeys for families who need extra help filling their Thanksgiving tables.
Donations will be collected on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the MRM's Men's Shelter located at 400 W Laketon Avenue.
The turkeys will be included in baskets filled with traditional Thanksgiving sides and donated at MRM's Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway the following week.
"Thanksgiving is a time for community, generosity and gratitude, and Muskegon Rescue Mission is honored to partner with our community to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors,” said Dan Skoglund, executive director of MRM. “The need for food continues to increase this year, we need the community’s support now more than ever.”
MRM partnered with Hazekamp's Premier Foods for the event, which already donated 400 turkeys towards the goal.
Other partnering organizations include Mel Trotter Ministries and Gateway Mission.
For those who can't make it to the event but still want to support, monetary donations can be made here.
