An eight-hour standoff has ended peacefully in Muskegon Township.

An eight-hour standoff has ended peacefully in Muskegon Township.

Michigan State Police arrived on scene on North Sheridan Road south of Hart Lane shortly after 12 a.m., Wednesday, July 12, after a fight between two men at a nearby home.

Police say during the fight, a 27-year-old man pulled a knife and tried to stab the other man. That man left the home and called 911.

The man who pulled the knife is said to be the brother of the other man's girlfriend and was wanted on a probation violation warrant for obstructing police.

Once on scene, the man refused to come out and a team was called in by MSP to assist with negotiations. After several hours, he began to talk to police over the phone.

MSP had information there was a gun inside the home so they used extra caution. They used three concussion blasts at one point, but no shots were fired by either party involved.

Around 8 a.m., the man came outside and turned himself in. He was arrested and taken to the Muskegon County Jail.
