Work is underway to remove the debris left from the Sappi smokestack that was demolished in Muskegon on Tuesday.
Heavy machinery is breaking up what's left of the stack. Workers continue to douse the debris to control dust.
All of the material from the stack, including much of the soil where the stack fell must be trucked to a landfill. As the process continues workers Thursday could be seen at the top of the remaining smoke stacks.
In the coming weeks that one will have paint removed from it's exterior. It also is expected to be knocked to the ground. That may happen as early as August.
