The man police say admitted to killing his ex-girlfriend was bound over to circuit court for trial Tuesday, Sept. 20.
Joshua Salyers, 29, is facing an open murder charge in the death of 22-year-old Barbara Dailey.
Muskegon police were dispatched to her home just after 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, near Irwin Avenue and Jiroch Street, upon a report of a caller saying his girlfriend was attacked, according to a news release.
Muskegon police detectives said in the hours after Dailey's death, Salyers admitted to cutting her throat two times with a knife. He also said that happened while he struggled with her over the knife and that she had it to her throat first. He said he was initially trying to save her from taking her own life.
Salyers also said he cut her two more times, kissed Dailey on forehead. He's bond over to circuit court. @wzzm13 pic.twitter.com/WlHPTmKEuV

When police got to the house, Dailey was inside in a pool of blood, still breathing. Salyers ran out of the home as police pulled up outside.
She was taken to an area hospital for treatment, where she died from her injuries.
Dailey was the mother of three young girls. Friends set up a GoFundMe to assist the family.
