MUSKEGON, Mich. — The Lakeshore Museum Center (LMC) is offering a unique experience at the Historic Hackley House in Muskegon.
Grab your thinking cap and head on down to the historic site to take on puzzles, locks and riddles all in an escape room set up in the attic of the lumber baron Charles Hackley's late 1800's home.
While you work to solve the escape room you can soak up some Muskegon history. The Hackley and Hume Historic site holds both the Hackley House and the Hume House. Lumber baron Charles H. Hackley had the houses built between 1887 and 1889 for both him and his business partner Thomas Hume.
The escape room experience will be offered on select Fridays between May and October 2024.
"For many years, the Hackley Attic has intrigued visitors with its mystery," said Muskegon Historic Sites director Erin Schmitz. "The Escape Room event allows visitors to gather their friends and attempt to escape this Victorian-era storage room within 80 minutes. It’s a thrilling and fun way to engage with Muskegon's rich history and the unique legacy of Charles Hackley."
The LMC said the escape room experience is designed for up to 10 participants and prior registration is mandatory.
The escape room will be open from 5-6:30 p.m. on the following Fridays:
- May 31
- June 28
- September 20
- October 25
LMC members can get tickets at a discounted price of $20. For non-members tickets are $25. You can purchase tickets at the Lakeshore Museum, Hackley and Hume Historic Site or online here.
