NORTON SHORES, Mich. - On April 26, 2013 Jessica Heeringa was working alone at the Sternberg Road Exxon station. Near the end of her scheduled shift, a customer called 911 to report that there was no one inside the building.
In the days, months, and years that followed, search parties looked far and wide for Heeringa, leaving behind flyers to spread the word about her disappearance.
On May 17, 2016 Jeffrey Willis was arrested for the attempted abduction of a teenage girl and police connected him with the disappearance of Heeringa, and the murder of another Muskegon County woman named Rebekah Bletsch.
Even though he was tried and convicted for Heeringa's death, Willis said at his sentencing that he is innocent. He will spend the rest of his life in prison for the deaths of Bletsch and Heeringa.
Heeringa's body still has not been found. If you have any information that could lead Norton Shores Police to Heeringa, call them at 231-733-2691 or Muskegon County Silent Observer at 231-72-CRIME. You can also submit a tip to the family on the Find Jessica Heeringa Facebook page.
