MUSKEGON, Mich. — The owners of Muskegon Brewing Company were happy to welcome patrons to a soft opening on the Fourth of July.
Part of the Adelaide Pointe development, the developers are using this as an opportunity to not only give guests a sneak peek but also to train staff.
The brewery is owned by Emily Leestma, who also owns IBEX Hospitality and oversees ventures like Bear Lake Tavern, Adelaide Events, and BLTiki.
She said the site of the brewery is where the original Muskegon Brewing Company was founded in 1876, before shutting down after a devastating fire in the early 1900s.
"We wanted to really pay homage to the history of Muskegon by bringing back the name Muskegon Brewing Company," Owner Emily Leestma said. "Because it's the Fourth of July...there's lots of people in town. We wanted to make sure that everyone could come out and enjoy a limited menu and just our beer offerings tonight."
The brewery is partnered with Muskegon-based Pigeon Hill Brewing Company. Leestma said Pigeon Hill will produce new recipes under the Muskegon Brewing Company label, and she and her team will handle the food portion of the brewery.
If you're interested in visiting them this weekend, Leestma asked you to pack your patience.
Dinner will be available from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, while the bar will be open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
They're planning a grand opening next week.
Parts of the building are still under construction, including an event space on the third floor.
