Muskegon mother fights for justice as teen's murder remains unsolved

The murder of a Muskegon teenager remains unsolved.

The murder of a Muskegon teenager remains unsolved, nearly three years after the crime.

The mother of 17-year-old Elijah Henderson is pleading for anyone with information to come forward.

Police say in the time since Elijah was gunned down in 2013, there's little information about the case and no arrests have been made.

Each season may come to an end, but a mother's love and pain does not.

"Don't ever give up," said Marta Tucker, Elijah's mother.

Tucker showed us tattoos on her arm of Elijah as a baby and also one of him when he was 17. Elijah never made it to 18.

"I'm just trying to fight for my baby, trying to get justice for my baby," Tucker said.

Elijah was killed during a drive-by shooting at 5th and Strong, according to police. However, they say beyond that, little is known because people with information have been silent. It remains an open investigation.

"People talk in the streets, you know, so if somebody knows -- just go and tell the police," Tucker pleaded.

She remembers the night Elijah was murdered, the last time she saw him.

"(He) came upstairs, got a Twizzlers, went back downstairs," said Tucker.

Tucker says Elijah had then apparently left to meet up with a friend. After she woke up later that night, she says she had a mother's instinct.

"I panicked like, 'Something's wrong, something is deeply wrong,'" said Tucker.

Now, she hopes her instinct brings justice for her son.

"If it was me on the other end, I know my son would fight for me -- and I will continue fighting for him until I get justice," Tucker said.

Tucker says family and friends plan to have a private memorial service for him next month.
