Woman killed in Muskegon Township crash

The Muskegon Township Police Department said the 17-year-old boy ran a red light and struck an oncoming vehicle. The other driver died from her injuries.

MUSKEGON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 68-year-old woman died from her injuries following a crash Monday morning in Muskegon Township. 

Muskegon Township Chief of Police Tim Thielbar told 13 ON YOUR SIDE the wreck happened around 10:20 a.m. at the intersection of Apple Avenue (M46) and Quarterline Road. 

Investigators believe a 17-year-old boy was driving eastbound on Apple Avenue and ran a red light. 

That's when the boy struck another vehicle headed northbound on Quarterline Road. 

The other driver, a 68-year-old woman, suffered critical injuries. Emergency responders rushed her to a nearby hospital where she then died from her injuries. 

Michigan State Police also responded and helped out with the investigation. 

The case remains active.
