Nurses at Mercy Health Partners Hackley Campus have voted to approve a new labor contract, which takes effect immediately.
The two year deal contains improvements for nurses and patients. It includes clarification of duties, which will allow nurses to spend more time with the patients and less on administrative tasks.
“Our union makes it possible for RNs to advocate for patient safety. This contract contains improved safety committee language that will help nurses maintain safe staffing levels and provide the highest quality of care,” said Bill Baker, RN and President of the Mercy Health Partners RN Council.
“We also won the ability to take time off for possible infectious disease exposure without penalty. That means we won’t run the risk of spreading illnesses to the larger community.”
The new agreement also increases tuition reimbursement, providing incentive for nurses to pursue a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
The contract expires on November 30, 2018.
