NORTH MUSKEGON, Mich. — Police in North Muskegon are looking for the driver of a boat accused of hitting and injuring a swimmer training for a triathlon.
It happened on around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 16 on Bear Lake, according to police. Witnesses reportedly called 911 after hearing two people in the water screaming for help.
One of the swimmers was hit by a boat, police say. The extent of their injuries is unclear at this time.
Police say both swimmers were taking proper precautions while they were training, including having neon buoys strapped to them.
Police are now pursuing leads about the driver of the boat. If you have any information on this incident, you're asked to call North Muskegon police.
The triathlon the swimmers were training for is taking place Sunday in North Muskegon.
