MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM) -- Muskegon's second craft brewery received state permission this week to open and serve customers. To prepare, the trio of men behind the Pigeon Hill Brewing Company have been brewing for weeks.

Undercover and inside a former Buick showroom, the Pigeon Hill Brewing Company has been taking shape. Co-owner Michael Brower says craft beer fans have been grabbing at locked doors and peeking in windows ever since the brewing company's name and logo went up at the Noble Building last year.

"We are about to share this gem with the community and hopefully get them to see what we see," Brower said. He and business partners Chad Done and Joel Kamp are ready to open in a town they each love. "Because we believe in Muskegon," he said.

The name comes from the city's past. "It was a famous Muskegon gem that was mined away, it was a big sand dune," Kamp. "They would say if you climbed the dune you were part of the Pigeo Hill Club. Now we have our own Pigeon Hill Club."

With a state license approved this week the all-new Pigeon Hill Club is ready to start accepting new members.

The Pigeon Hills Brewing Company allows customers to bring their own food into the tasting room. It opened to the public Friday evening at 7 o'clock and will be open Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. The owners say opening weekend will include seven beers on tap.
