A prisoner was found dead in his cell at the Earnest C. Brooks Correctional Facility in Muskegon over the weekend.
Michigan Department of Corrections Public Information Officer Chris Gautz tells WZZM 13 Jamaal Ramsey was found in his cell during usual evening rounds Saturday, July 1.
He was pronounced dead once medical officials arrived. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
In addition to an internal investigation from the DOC, Michigan State Police are working to determine what lead up to the prisoner's death.
