STEAM Along the Lakeshore returns to downtown Muskegon for third year

Each activity will center around science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM). It is completely free to participate.

MUSKEGON, Mich. — STEAM Along the Lakeshore is returning to downtown Muskegon for a third year, offering free activities for families and kids of all ages.

Beginning in Hackley Park, participants will get a map to activity booths in the park, Hackley Public Library, Lakeshore Fab Lab of Muskegon Community College, Muskegon Museum of Art and Muskegon Museum of History and Science.

Each activity will center around science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM).

Mallory Metzger, Hackley Public Library marketing coordinator, emphasized that everyone can participate.

"It's really geared toward so many different ages. Kids, teens and families, students as young as kindergarten all the way up through high school, 12th grade," she said. "This is something for everyone to enjoy. Kind of as we were mentioning, it's something you can enjoy as a family or with friends, so really everyone is invited and it is free."

The first 750 participants will receive a goodie bag with a take-home activity, t-shirt and a passport to collect stamps as activities are completed. Once the passport is finished, it can be turned in to organizers to be entered into a raffle.

STEAM Along the Lakeshore is happening on Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
