GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Mines Golf Club is celebrating the opening of a new events center and restaurant.
The new restaurant, the Gypsum Grill and Event Center, is set to open in early October and will feature 200 seats for diners both indoor and outdoor. The building will also house a 250-seat events space for weddings and other functions.
"The uniqueness and proximity and the excellent atmosphere that this facility provides is just a really a cool place to come visit. Our menu caters to everyday food. We call it polished casual, as the brand that we're going to have here at Gypsum Grill," said Chris Sobieck, owner of the Mines and Gypsum Grill and Event Center.
Sobieck told 13 ON YOUR SIDE that everything made at Gypsum Grill is made from scratch.
"This is a full service from scratch kitchen. Zach Williams, our general manager, has hired a fantastic staff. We've hired over 50 people already in our kitchen. Everything is made from scratch, which is going to be unique for the area," said Sobieck.
Sobieck said they are hoping to open the restaurant on Tuesday, Oct. 8 and that they already have their first wedding booked for the venue later this month.
The hours are expected to be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week with full lunch and dinner service.
