No-cost baby boutique opens in Grand Rapids

The boutique will be a place where families can come and get no cost items for their children such as clothing, diapers, wipes, blankets, bottles and more.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Catholic Charities West Michigan has opened a no-cost baby boutique at 1400 Plainfield.

The boutique will be a place where families can come and get no cost items for their children such as clothing, diapers, wipes, blankets, bottles and other essentials.

"We get all of our items through donations, the generous donations of people in the community," said Stephanie Busch, pregnancy and parenting support program manager for Catholic Charities West Michigan. "So a lot of it is, you know, secondhand items that are in great shape, and people give them to us, and we redistribute those out to the community."

The boutique has already seen success as they said they had over 50 families on just their first day.

"Keeping the pantry stocked with all the things that they need is always an ongoing challenge," said Busch. "And we really went to a lot of lengths to make this a really beautiful space, so that families could feel that they were coming in and shopping in a very beautiful and dignified area."
