Norton Shores man dies from crossbow bolt wound

The man was found in the driveway of his home. Norton Shores Fire Department and Pro Med attempted lifesaving efforts, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 20-year-old Norton Shores man was found dead on his driveway from a crossbow wound on Dec. 26.

Norton Shores Police said they responded to the call at the 3100 block of Leon Street around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. Neighbors confirm the victim was Marcus Olmstead, who lived at the Leon Street home with his family. Police are still searching for the suspect responsible for the young man's death.

Friends of the family say that Olmstead's stepmother, who is a nurse, tried to revive him before first responders arrived on scene. Norton Shores Fire Department and Pro Med also attempted lifesaving efforts, but Olmstead was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors described Olmstead and his twin brother as friendly and good kids, not the types to make enemies.

"I would never have dreamt it was one of their boys," said the Olmstead's neighbor, Marilyn Buck.

"I thought maybe it was somebody else happened to get killed and fell in their driveway."

Anyone with information is asked to call Norton Shores Police Department at 231-733-2691 or Silent Observer at 231-72-CRIME.
