OCEANA COUNTY, Mich. — Multiple animals were killed early Monday morning in a barn fire in Oceana County.
Authorities say the fire began at a barn near E Harrison Road and N 190th Avenue in Leavitt Township around 4:30 a.m. The owners believed they had extinguished a small fire caused by a heat lamp earlier in the day, but it rekindled overnight.
The fire destroyed the barn, authorities say. Five goats and one bull were killed. No injuries have been reported.
Crews from multiple fire departments left the scene around 7:30 a.m.
This comes as West Michigan saw multiple grass fires Sunday. Emergency services say due to the dry weather conditions, it isn't safe to burn things outside.
