OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — Friday afternoon the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a personal injury crash in which a woman had reportedly been ejected from a vehicle.
After arriving on the scene at 112th and Stanton, first responders found that nobody had been ejected from either vehicle. However, a 48-year-old Grand Haven man was pinned inside of his vehicle.
The sheriff's office said the crash happened when the 48-year-old man was traveling northbound on 112th and did not stop for the stop sign at Stanton. He collided with an eastbound vehicle in the intersection.
A 20-year-old man from Hudsonville was driving the other vehicle. There was also a passenger in the vehicle, a 24-year-old woman from Hudsonville. The second car rolled as a result of the crash and ended up in a nearby yard.
Both the driver and passenger were injured but were able to crawl out of the vehicle. They were both brought to a nearby hospital. Police said they were in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
The 48-year-old man's vehicle also ended up in the same yard as the other vehicle. The man was pinned inside.
First responders got the unresponsive man out of the vehicle. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man's name is being withheld while officials notify his family.
