GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — On Monday multiple fights broke out during the school's lunch periods at Ottawa Hills high school in Grand Rapids according to Principal Timothy Mabin.
"GRPS has a zero-tolerance policy for violence of any kind and all instances of this behavior are taken very seriously," said Mabin in a statement sent out to parents on Monday.
Mabin also said there were no injuries reported in the fights. The school is continuing to investigate and discipline those involved, including those who may have been videotaping the fights.
"I also want to point out the concern I have for those videotaping, cheering on, or otherwise instigating violent behavior," the statement read. "This too will result in discipline. This behavior by a few impacts our entire school community and will not be tolerated."
The school brought in additional security officers and assistance from Grand Rapids Police to assist in ensuring an orderly dismissal.
