GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Our Hope, a recovery center for women struggling with addiction, opened a new 20,000-square-foot facility in Grand Rapids on Thursday.
The organization offers therapeutic long-term residential treatment, counseling and education to help women recover from alcoholism and addiction, as well as the mental and emotional challenges the diseases bring.
The organization now has two fully functional treatment homes, one on Lyon Street and the newest on Walker Avenue NW.
"We really were just trying to look for the right space, and then when we found this building," said Executive Director Heather Greko. "Some of the features of the building are so therapeutic and so amazing that we just knew that this would be an oasis for women, an oasis of hope, where somebody could come in and they could have this wonderful therapeutic environment where it feels like a retreat, but it's actually in the heart of the city."
According to Our Hope's website, the Walker home was designed to allow them to expand on the services offered to women.
Over the next few months, their team will work to open a Withdrawal Management Unit for acute detoxification services.
In addition to this, Our Hope offers a program that allows women to bring their young infants with them, "ensuring a nurturing and supportive environment for both mother and child."
The site also said outpatient services will be offered to provide aftercare services to clients once they graduate from the residential program.
The center is set to open on May 13.
