GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Ronald McDonald House Charities West Michigan (RMHC) is holding a food drive on Tuesday, collecting donations for families staying at the facility.
The second annual Food for Families Collection Drive will run from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the RMHC West Michigan facility located at 1323 Cedar St NE in Grand Rapids.
RMHC West Michigan is asking for all types of non-perishable food items, but the charity said they have a higher need of some specific items:
- Individually packed shelf stable snacks: Chips, granola bars, fruit snacks, crackers, mini-muffins, etc.
- Easy meals: Kraft macaroni, ramen noodles, soups, Hamburger Helper, etc.
The other non-perishable food items RMHC West Michigan is asking for are:
- Rice: Plain and mixes
- Pastas: All varieties – 16 or 32 oz. boxes
- Pasta sauces: Red sauce and alfredo, jarred or canned
- Canned vegetables and beans: Tomatoes (all varieties), corn, green beans, black beans, etc.
- Broths: Beef and chicken
- Spices; Garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, parsley, oregano, chili powder, cumin, etc.
- Marinades and sauces
- Baking chips: Chocolate, white chocolate, cinnamon
- Dessert mixes: Cakes, brownies, etc.
If you want to donate to the charity but can't make it out in person, RMHC West Michigan created an Amazon Wishlist where donations purchased will be shipped directly to the house.
