No injuries, dogs missing after overnight fire in Montague Twp.

When fire crews kicked down the front door, two dogs escaped. They haven't been found yet.

MONTAGUE, Mich. — An early morning fire has destroyed a home in Muskegon County, but thankfully no one was inside when it started.

The fire started shortly after 2 a.m. on Dowling Road, near the intersection with Whitbeck Road. A neighbor saw flames coming out of the window and called dispatch.

Fire crews were on the scene within six minutes. They kicked down the front door, and two dogs ran out. No one was inside at the time of the fire.

The dogs have not been found yet.

The home is still smoking as of 4:15 a.m. but our crew at the scene says the fire appears to be out.

We are told they don't know what caused the fire yet.

Multiple fire departments from the surrounding area were called in to help fight the fire.
