GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — PADNOS, a West Michigan-based recycling company, is expanding in Michigan and Indiana with three new acquisitions: Sam Winer & Company Inc. in Elkhart, Indiana; Howe Auto Sales in Bay City, Michigan; and Grandpa’s Garage in Traverse City, Michigan.

Soon, Sam Winer & Company Inc. will be operating as PADNOS Elkhart, and Howe Auto Sales will be operating as PADNOS Bay City. Grandpa's Garage will be consolidated into the already-existing Traverse City PADNOS location.

“These three acquisitions align with our strategy to grow our regional network,” said Jonathan Padnos, President and CEO of PADNOS. “PADNOS looks forward to serving the communities in Elkhart and Bay City while continuing to serve in Traverse City.”

Currently, PADNOS operates 30 locations, with two headquarters in Grandville and Holland.

“We look forward to growing our recycling center footprint and providing the great PADNOS customer service experience at these new locations,” said PADNOS CFO Ben Irwin.

PADNOS recycles items like scrap metals, electronics, vehicles, plastic and more. It was founded in 1905. Since then, the Padnos family has bolstered its influence in West Michigan and beyond through philanthropy.

Students at Grand Valley State University will recognize the name, as the university's Padnos Hall of Science and Padnos College of Engineering and Science were named after Seymour Padnos.
