ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. — A person is seriously hurt after a crash in Constantine Township Thursday night, the Sheriff's Office says.

It happened in the 65000 block of Constantine Road around 10:20 p.m.

A driver was stopped with their car facing northbound in the southbound lane with its lights on. A pedestrian was standing next to the car, speaking with the driver.

A car going southbound saw the lights, but couldn't tell which lane the car was parked in. After getting closer and discovering the car was in his lane, facing him, he swerved and hit the pedestrian.

First responders helped the victim until they could be airlifted to the hospital. Officials say they have life-threatening injuries.

The other involved drivers were taken to a nearby hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
