A pedestrian was killed on East Beltline Tuesday night after being hit by a car.

KENTWOOD, Mich. — A person is dead after being hit by two vehicles in Kentwood Tuesday night.

The crash happened around 8:40 p.m. in the 2500 block of East Beltline Avenue. Police say a pedestrian was trying to cross the street from the Marathon Gas Station to the Woodland Mall when they were hit by a sedan, driven by a 41-year-old Grand Rapids man.

The pedestrian was then hit a second time by a dark-colored Ford F-150, police say. That vehicle did not stop and has not yet been located.

The pedestrian has been identified as a 32-year-old Wyoming man.

No one else was injured in the incidents. Police say no arrests have been made at this time. Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the first crash.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kentwood Police Department Detective Bureau at 616-656-6604 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345 or SilentObserver.org.
