Pet dies, firefighter has minor injuries from Muskegon house fire

MUSKEGON, Mich. — A pet died and a firefighter was sent to the hospital with minor injuries after a house fire in Muskegon on Sunday morning. 

According to the Muskegon Fire Department, around 6:44 a.m. a call came in about a fire in the 2200 block of Denmark Street. 

When fire crews arrived, they found the second floor of the home was engulfed in flames. 

The department said the bulk of the fire was put out in about a half hour and no people were home when the fire started. 

There's extensive damage to the upper floors of the house and three people have been displaced. A pet died in the fire and one firefighter with minor injuries went to the hospital, the department said. 

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the Red Cross has been notified of the people who have been displaced.
