PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Multiple fire departments rushed to a mobile home with flames coming out of the windows Monday morning.
The Plainfield Township Fire Department and some crews from the Grand Rapids Fire Department were called to a mobile home in the 1500 block of Stuard Drive just before 10:30 a.m.
Firefighters searched the home and worked quickly to put out the flames.
One person suffered injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment, Plainfield Township District Chief Kyle Svoboda said.
Svoboda also said temperature played into how they responded.
"Weather obviously presents challenges," he says. "Our hoses can freeze up, hydrants might freeze up. There's probably a good foot of snow that hasn't been plowed back here. Again, it's firefighter hazards for tripping and falling — all the above when weather's like this. Finding hydrants is tricky, we ask that people do clear their hydrants out, especially, we've had a couple feet of snow in the last week or so. It can be difficult for us."
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
