GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A local fast-casual poke restaurant will open in downtown Grand Rapids soon.

Poke Toki, pronounced "poh-kay toh-key," will open a new location inside McKay Tower on Monroe Center Street in January 2025.

The restaurant first opened its doors in 2018 on Northland Drive, serving Korean, Japanese and Hawaiian-style poke bowls. Owners then expanded to Cascade Road in Cascade in 2021.

It's a hotspot for fresh, fast and healthy dishes for those with and without dietary restrictions. The bowls, whether created yourself or selected off their menu, are a combination of raw or cooked fish with rice, vegetables, sides, sauces and seasonings.

The McKay Tower location will be their third location, taking up 2,300 square feet of the ground floor.

“Poke Toki is excited to expand with this new downtown location, which is in the heart of Grand Rapids,” said owner John Chang. “We’ve been so pleased with customer response to our other restaurants that opening in downtown is a natural step in our continued growth."

Owners of McKay Tower say it reflects the ongoing growth in downtown Grand Rapids. They're looking forward to adding more options for visitors and residents of the building alike.

“McKay Tower checked all the boxes for us – it is centrally located, conveniently accessible and in a high-traffic location. We’re looking forward to introducing poke to more diners in our community," said Chang.

Poke Toki will be open 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. They join other businesses in McKay, including Kilwins, Sushi Yama and Wisemen Distillery.
