Muskegon Heights Police identify 18-year-old shot Monday

The Police Department said Tremell Carter was conscious and alert at the time and is in the hospital in stable condition.

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — The 18-year-old who was shot in the chest Monday afternoon in Muskegon Heights remains in the hospital. 

The Muskegon Heights Police Department identified the man as Tremell Carter Tuesday. 

Someone shot him in the chest around 2:20 p.m. in the 3300 block of 6th Street. 

Officers responded shortly after and found him with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was alert and conscious at the time, and he was rushed to the hospital. 

He remains hospitalized in stable condition, police said.

After investigating, authorities said the shooting was in front of 3321 5th Street in the City of Muskegon Heights. Police said they do not have any suspects at this time.
