WYOMING, Michigan — A teenager was rushed to a West Michigan hospital Tuesday afternoon.

Wyoming Police told 13 ON YOUR SIDE while the investigation is very early on, it appears the teen was riding on the outside of a vehicle when they fell.

The 17-year-old, who is a student, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Superintendent Craig Hoekstra sent a letter to parents about the situation, which happened right around school dismissal.

"EMS was called to assist a student who required medical attention. Please rest assured that the situation was handled swiftly and with the utmost care," he said.

Hoekstra said school leaders are not divulging more information due to the student's privacy.
