ALLEGAN COUNTY, Michigan — A pregnant woman is injured after being shot by her boyfriend's pistol in Lee Township, the Allegan County Sheriff's Office says.

Dispatch got a call from a home on 105th Avenue on Saturday about a 31-year-old pregnant woman suffering from a gunshot wound.

Investigators say the woman was arguing with her 23-year-old boyfriend. The couple are both from the Pullman area.

As they argued, the boyfriend had a pistol and it went off, hitting her in the abdomen and leg, police say.

The boyfriend then left the home on a motorcycle that police say was stolen.

Deputies were able to find the gun and make contact with the suspect over the phone while they searched for him.

The woman was transported to a nearby hospital. Police said she and her baby are in stable condition.

Thanks to several tips from the community, the suspect was located two days later. He was arrested.
