Proper flag disposal taken up by Kent County

Kent County has a new tool to help people properly dispose of the U.S. flag.

Over 2000 American flags line the streets of McAdenville every Independence Day to honor veterans.

Kent County has a new tool to help people properly dispose of the U.S. flag.

The National Flag Foundation provided this flag retirement box to the County, free of charge.

It's located at the County administration building in downtown Grand Rapids.

According to the United States flag code when the flag's condition makes it no longer fit for display it should be destroyed in a dignified way.

All flags deposited in the box will be disposed of properly.
