GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — The owners of a Comstock Park house, famous for its Halloween decorations, won't have as many to put away for the season.
"There were five items that I've noticed so far that were taken, they were all creatures, like one was a rat from one of the cemetery scenes and the other was a baby dragon and a crocodile, a skeleton snail and a skeleton rubber duck," said Storybook Hollow owner Jennifer Dunnahee.
Dunahee has been putting on the Halloween display that's been a staple in Comstock park for the past 15 years.
Dunahee said she noticed the missing items when she went outside to take a picture of the display covered in snow after Tuesday's storms.
"It's sad when things come up missing, because things that might seem small and insignificant when you're walking through every single item in our displays, either handmade or was, you know, acquired," said Dunahee.
She believes they were taken towards the end of Trick-or-treating Halloween night, or sometime after.
"My husband actually just did a walkthrough, like towards the end of trick or treating and everything was still there," said Dunahee. "So it either happened toward the end of trick-or-treating or somebody broke in here after trick-or-treating."
While disappointed, she still cares about the display that turns thousands of heads every year.
She has a message for those who may have taken anything.
"Keep in mind when you're going to see somebody's artwork in any situation, just be respectful and be mindful of the work that went into it," said Dunahee.
