HUDSONVILLE, Mich. — An unoccupied semi truck rolled down a sloped parking lot and crashed into a Subway restaurant Thursday afternoon. The crash caused structural damage to the building, a Subway Sandwich shop, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) said.
The incident occurred around 4:49 p.m. at 3196 Corporate Grove Drive in Hudsonville when the driver of a 2019 Volvo semi truck parked the vehicle on the south side of the business. The driver then left the truck and went to a nearby gas station, according to OCSO.
OCSO said the truck's parking brake wasn't properly engaged, causing it to roll down the parking lot's incline. The runaway semi struck a parked vehicle before crashing into the restaurant.
Officials said nobody was injured in the incident. However, the Subway location was forced to close due to the damage.
The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the incident.
