OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — A fast-moving illness forced Sandy Hill Elementary School to close for the rest of the week.
Jenison Public Schools Superintendent Brandon Graham said the sickness is impacting both students and staff, so to prevent further spreading the bug, they're closing school on Thursday and Friday.
"We plan to deep clean the entire building, including sanitizing and disinfecting surfaces to help prevent the further spread of illness," Graham said in a note to parents.
This cancelation will also impact Thursday's scheduled parent-teacher conferences.
The district is canceling those for Sandy Hill, too.
"We continue to encourage you to keep an eye on your child's health over the next 24 to 48 hours. If they are vomiting or experiencing diarrhea, headache, or fever, please keep them home until they are symptom-free for 24 hours," the superintendent said.
