PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Scott Weldon went missing from Plainfield Township in July 2023, and the Kent County Sheriff's Office is asking for tips to find him.

Weldon, who is in his 60s, disappeared on July 19, 2023, after his family hadn't heard from him for about a week. They were concerned he could be a danger to himself back then.

Fast forward one year later, the Kent County Sheriff's Office said none of his family had heard from him, and he remains missing.

Back in 2023, detectives said they found phone records that showed Weldon in the area of US-131 and 10 Mile at 8:36 a.m. on July 18, 2023, and then US-131 and 22 Mile area around 9:38 a.m.

Authorities said Weldon was known to be dealing with depression and had mentioned to his family about "going up north."

Detectives have a theory that Weldon may have hitchhiked his way to northern Michigan.

He may be using a walking stick or a cane, authorities said.

If you recognize this man or know of anyone matching his description in the Rockford, Sand Lake, or northern Michigan areas, please call KCSO at (616) 336-3113.

"Our hope is to move this investigation forward and help get his family some answers. Thank you," the sheriff's office said.
