Shooting under investigation after man shot in the head in Muskegon Heights

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — A man is seriously injured after being shot in the head in Muskegon Heights on Saturday night, according to the Muskegon Heights Police Department. 

Police said around 11:25 p.m. Muskegon Central Dispatch received a call about a shooting in the area of Hackley Avenue and Maffett Street. 

MHPD said police were sent to this area and then directed to the corner of Delano Avenue and Riordan Street, where the victim was found in a vehicle. 

Police said the victim was a 45-year-old Muskegon area man who had a gunshot wound in his head. 

Officers helped the man until Muskegon Heights Fire and Trinity Health EMS got to the scene. 

The man was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

Officers from Muskegon and Norton Shores helped to find the original location of the shooting, which was in the 2400 block of Baker Street. 

Muskegon Heights Detectives and the Michigan State Police Sixth District MMCI Detectives are currently investigating the shooting.
