The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is asking the public to name all 340 snowplows in its fleet. The names can be seen online.

MICHIGAN, USA — Sleetwood Mac, The Scrape Gatsby and Optimus Plow are not a famous rock band, an iconic novel and a powerful Transformer — they're snowplows.

This winter, when the blizzards are blustering, the air is frigid and the snow is suffocating, there are few we can count on to pull us from the icy depths — but we can always count on our snowplows.

For who other than Edgar Allen Snow can wrench us free from the frostbitten clutches of the winter?

How will we make our morning commute without the spectacular salting only Clearopathra can deliver?

Our measly tires are no match for the snow, so in these trying times, we must rely on none other than Chilly Dog to clear the way.

But after a road is well cleared, how do we give our compliments to the plow?

Your trusty neighborhood snow plow can be found on MDOT's Mi Drive Map by activating the MDOT snowplow tracker map layer. The tracker can be turned on by clicking the small snowplow icon on the top left corner of the map.

When you hover over an icon, the snowplow's name will appear. When you click it, it will show the description of what the plow is doing, as well as a driver's seat view of the current road conditions through the snowplow cameras.
