'SO MUCH FUN' | Grand Rapids dad takes daughter to first Lions game on Thanksgiving

Mike Aguilar is a huge Lions fan and his daughter Cecily is following right in his footsteps.

DETROIT, Michigan — While many of us may be enjoying the last of those Thanksgiving leftovers, one Grand Rapids father and his daughter spent their Thanksgiving making memories to last a lifetime.

Mike Aguilar spent his Thanksgiving making with his daughter at her first Detroit Lions game.

While many Michiganders spent the holiday with the annual game on TV, thousands spent it at the game against the Chicago Bears at Ford Field in Detroit.

Aguilar has been to many games, but this one took on a whole new meaning as he took his daughter Cecily, 10, along for the first time.

“It’s crazy, it’s so big!" she said as she looked out at the field.

The elementary schooler brought with her a sign that read, 'Go Lions, this is my first football game!'

Aguilar said she freaked out when she found out she was going to the game with her dad about a week beforehand.

Her passion for the team comes from her dad who said she was ready bright and early Thursday to make the drive across the state.

The duo enjoyed the classic turkey legs at the game and halftime performer Shaboozey.

Cecily is Mike's first of three kids to join him for a game.

He told 13 ON YOUR SIDE, “it's amazing, it's building that core memory, I remember when I was a kid, my dad took me to a Jacksonville game, and so I remember that, sticks in my mind forever and ever and ever.”

Sporting a big smile, Cecily felt the same way.

“It's so much fun," she said.

“It truly means a lot. It's one of those memories I hope she holds on to forever," said Mike.

The Lions beat the Bears 23-20 in their first Thanksgiving win since 2016.
