NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich. — Snowfall on Tuesday in Newaygo County left some people happy to see their yards covered in snow.
“We’re happy we’ve been waiting for it,” said resident Gerald VanWieren. “We’ve been cross country skiing for years. I just think the woods is so beautiful covered and we just figured if you are gonna live in Michigan, you better enjoy it.”
While the snow fell, VanWieren ran to Bryan’s Hardware store in Grant Michigan.
He was grabbing things for his wife’s skis' when 13 ON YOUR SIDE bumped into him.
The owner of the store, Michael Bryan, said he is preparing for the rush of customers that come in the day after a snowstorm.
“Usually the day of a storm like today when things are usually slow, people don’t leave the house unless they have to but as they get out tomorrow, they’ll use the rest of the week to get out shoveling,” said Bryan.
He says rather than waiting, it’s best to have the items you need so you are already prepared.
“I think is always good to have even a small jug of ice melter for storms like this where It changes from snow to rain and back to snow,” said Bryan.
Road crews in Newaygo County were out all day long clearing roads, to help drivers get to their destinations safely.
