Suspect arrested for allegedly breaking into, damaging South Haven Family Dollar

While investigators are still assessing the situation, the damage to the building is considered "substantial."

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. — One person was arrested after a Family Dollar in South Haven was allegedly broken into and damaged.

Police say the incident was reported early Wednesday morning when a passerby noticed the glass door of the store was broken. 

Responding officers found the suspect inside the store, where there was "significant" damage to displays and shelving. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Stolen property was recovered at the scene, according to police.

While investigators are still assessing the situation, the damage to the building is considered "substantial."

In a release, South Haven police thanked the community for being watchful and reporting the break-in.
